Tom Civil

Tom Civil grew up as a kid in Thunderbolt country west of the Great Dividing Range, NSW, and currently lives in a big old group house in Melbourne. He works as a DIY artist and activist graphic designer and self-publishes posters, zines, stickers and newspapers. His stencil and street work has been featured in various publications including Melbourne Stencil Art Capital, Street|Studio, Space Invaders (NGA), the film Rash, as a feature artist in the Melbourne Stencil Festival 2004/2005/2009 and the Cans Festival in London in 2008. He has also exhibited walk-through installations and worked closely with his brother Ned under the guise The Evil Brothers, and Dad Tony as Sevil & Sons. Tom has exhibited in community art spaces, empty shows and on the street and has run stencil/mural making workshops in different communities and given various public talks about the political nature of street art. Tom is also co-founder of small publishers Breakdown Press.
